#9 – opened February 2004
When we took over this once dilapidated, subterranean site in 2004, formerly home to the beloved Peter Christian’s (no, we will not be introducing a Shephard’s Pie Burrito anytime soon), many wrote off Boloco’s foray into the Granite state as a way for one of the founders (Dartmouth ’91, Tuck ’97) to get closer to his alma mater. While it’s true that Boloco’s first business plan was written during his second year at Tuck, the opening of a non-Boston location more importantly showed that Boloco had legs outside of a large city, especially in college-centered towns.
After a historically challenging start, the Hanover Boloco has been one of the top restaurants in the Boloco family since 2005. Boloco has enjoyed a rich relationship with the Hanover and Dartmouth communities on all levels, especially in support of the annual Prouty event benefiting the Norris Cotton Cancer Center. With the 2009 introduction of Boloco pong balls, we hope we’ve permanently established ourselves in the annals of the Dartmouth and Hanover history books.
