Boloco Frequently Asked Questions

BOLOCO CARD FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the Boloco Card?

“It’s the greatest thing ever” — Northeastern Middler, October 24, 2006.

It’s a combination of a Gift Card and a Loyalty Card which you can use at all Boloco locations. It usually has a design that reflects or depicts the local neighborhoods and people.

What is a Gift Card?

It’s usually a Gift! But at Boloco it’s usually a gift to yourself! (ok... during holidays and on birthdays, these are often given to others) Sometimes it’s called a Stored-Value Card, because it basically stores dollars. Load real money onto it (cash or credit card) and its value goes up! Use it for burritos and smoothies and anything else at Boloco, and the value goes down! Get it?? Its plastic (bummer) and is purchased at your local Boloco (or you can email buzz@boloco.com and request one, though that takes a bit longer sometimes)

What is a Loyalty Card?

A loyalty card accumulates points as you spend dollars at Boloco! You don’t have to use dollars loaded onto the Card to accrue Loyalty Points... even if you pay cash, for example, simply hand your Boloco Card to the cashier to make sure you get credit for your purchases. A Loyalty Card is often a different physical card than a Gift Card. — and yes, it’s typically also plastic like a credit card (bummer again — we’re working on that!). The good news at Boloco is that our Gift Cards and our Loyalty Cards are combined onto the SAME card — the Boloco Card!

How does the Boloco Loyalty program work?

Each dollar you spend on burritos, smoothies, drinks or anything else at Boloco equals one point. Every time you reach 50 points, the points will automatically convert to any free item of your choice. Items like these that are earned do not expire. Is there anything else that I can do with my Boloco Card? You can register your card at www.boloco.com.

Why would anyone do that??

When you register your card your card will automatically be loaded with a freebie of your choice. That hooks a lot of people. Next, you will get another freebie on your birthday. That hooks a few thousand more (literally). Less enticing (right until it actually happens), you will be able to transfer your points and freebies onto a new card in the event that your card is lost. Finally, when you register you can reload your card on-line... there’s even an auto re-load option when your balance dips below a certain dollar amount if you so choose.

What about that “OPT-IN” box? Will clicking it mean I hate you guys in a few weeks because you slam me with irrelevant emails?

I’m sure not everyone loves what we have to say. But our philosophy is to only say something when it matters... to you! When you hear from us, we make it worth your while to read it... no exceptions.

What do I miss if I don’t Opt-in?

First, please be assured that life will go on as you know it. However, there are about 3x the number of “extra” benefits to Opt-ins versus Opt-outs. In 2007, when the Sox won their 2nd World Championship in 4 years, we loaded 2 Freebies onto 6,000 cards... but these promotional freebies typically only last a few days, and if you didn’t hear about it, you can’t use it... so make sure you hear about it. Opt-in! And make sure you add us to your SPAM friendly list!!

How do I get a Boloco Card?

You can pick up a Boloco Card by simply visiting one of our locations (link to locations page). Or, you can email us at buzz@boloco.com with your address and phone number, and we’ll give you a ring back to confirm information and collect payment information. Or we’ll just send you an “empty” one if you choose.
